Tinglish at its best!
One of our farang friends decided to go back to her home country of Scotland. At her going away party she served this cake which was supposed to say "You're Coming Home!", but instead had this odd Thai interpretation on it...
Our Local Curry Place
A lovely little Thai restaurant near our village with a lovely view. My favourite dish is their chicken yellow curry. It's not spicy at all, but rather has a more spiced Malay taste to it.

Santi Indian Restaurant
On our last visit to Khao San we decided to go for some Indian food at a restaurant near our hotel. Our meal included some poppadoms, garlic Naan bread and 2 different lamb curries (spicy for Danie, mild for me) with saffron rice. In a country where lamb and mutton is uncommon and expensive it was a rare treat. The food was delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices.
Snatch Theft!
We found this warning sign on the back of the driver's seat of a Tuk-Tuk in Bangkok. The phrasing, followed by the laughter of our friends, left me wondering if wearing a skirt in Bangkok might have been a bad idea... :P
Relay Race slash Eating Contest
I'm not quite sure what this particular race is supposed to be called, but it works as follows:
There are 4 check-point activities that each contestant needs to complete and the first person to complete all the tasks wins the race. The starting activity involved finding a coin buried in a plate of flour using only your mouth. The next checkpoint contained a plate with some sort of compressed powder cake (which I am told was incredibly hard to swallow due to its dryness) that the contestants needed to eat before being allowed to move on. At the 3rd check-point contestants had to finish a 500ml bottle of Pepsi before moving on and at the final checkpoint contestants had to blow up a balloon until it burst to complete the race.
It is an extremely entertaining contest to watch and even though the two foreign teachers finished last, the rest of us were there to cheer them on (except for me, of course, as I was too busy capturing the whole spectacle on video).

Tug-of-War
One of the sports of the Sports Day is Tug-of-War. The teachers also compete against each other and the foreign teachers will in some cases compete against the Thai teachers.
